The Leading Manufacturer
of High End Visualizers

Basic Information

Applications of a Visualizer

A Visualizer is the most flexible presentation tool of our times. It can pick-up any kind of material (books, photos, 3-dimensional objects etc.) quickly and easily and provides a high resolution output signal for video/data projectors, monitors, interactive whiteboards or videoconferencing systems.

Compared to rather "stiff" Power Point presentations, a presentation with a Visualizer is much more flexible and "alive" because anything can be displayed at any time, with no fixed order and without any advance preparation.

Typical applications for Visualizers are: Training, Education, Meetings, Conferences, Product Presentations, Court Rooms (displaying evidence), various Medical Applications (telemedicine, telepathology, x-rays etc.), Video Conferencing / Tele Presence (using the Visualizer as a document camera) and many more ...

Number 1 in Quality, Innovation and Ease of Use

WolfVision's company history dates back to the year 1966, when Josef Wolf set up one of the first companies in the Austrian "AV market". Between 1974 and 1986 this company built a lot of custom-made Visualizers (then called "Video overheads"). In 1990 the first Visualizer from serial production was introduced under the brand name "WolfVision" and four years later "WolfVision" also became the name of our worldwide successful family owned company.

The research and development department is clearly the "heart of WolfVision". With 10% of the turnover invested in R & D, WolfVision has been holding its position as the "Technology Leader" in the Visualizer market since the early 90s. WolfVision is the company that sets the worldwide standards of product quality, innovation and ease of use.

Even though the great majority of WolfVision units never need any servicing, WolfVision also gives high priority to fast and uncomplicated service and support.

WolfVision's high quality standards are visible throughout the whole company. From research and development to purchasing, manufacturing, quality control, sales and support.

WolfVision is based in the Vorarlberger Rhein valley in West-Austria, close to the boarders of Germany and Switzerland. An area famous for innovative high tech companies in many different fields of business and an exceptional working attitude and devotion of people to their profession. The ideal environment for a high tech company like WolfVision.

In order to maintain the high quality standards, WolfVision's manufacturing and assembling is also done in Austria/Europe. There is no outsourcing to countries with low labour costs and inevitably lower quality standards.

Mechanical Quality

Mechanical quality is a basic requirement for all WolfVision products. WolfVision units are solid and can hardly be damaged. They are built to last a very long lifetime.

If you want to check out the difference in mechanical stability and reliability between a WolfVision Visualizer and any other document camera on the market, just "touch" the units. You will immediately "feel" the difference.

Picture Quality

WolfVision Visualizers have always been famous for their outstanding picture quality, which is due to a perfect mixture of high end components and remarkable know-how.

The picture quality of a Visualizer or camera can only be as good as its weakest component. The following 5 basic elements are responsible for perfect picture quality, as found on all WolfVision units:

1. High End Camera Lens
2. High End Image Sensor (CCD)
3. High End Electronic Hardware
4. High End Software (Firmware)
5. High End Light System

1. High End Camera Lens

The camera lens is usually the most expensive part of a Visualizer (or any other camera). As a result, this is where manufacturers of lower priced units often save money and lose a lot of picture quality.

WolfVision makes no compromises here. Only high end lenses made in Europe or Japan are used. The color reproduction, light sensivity and overall resolution are perfect - not only in the center, but also at the edges of the picture.

The construction of all WolfVision lenses is highly sophisticated (see sectional view on the right). Between 5 and 9 moving spheric elements assure that optical zooming runs very smooth and the picture stays perfectly in focus while zooming.

2. High End Image Sensor (CCD)

WolfVision's R&D department constantly develops new cameras using CCD and CMOS image sensors. Only the best ones make it into serial production.

Up to now, no CMOS camera has matched the outstanding quality of WolfVision's CCD cameras. Despite the higher price, WolfVision will keep using CCD sensors as long as they are technically better than CMOS.

3. High End Electronic Hardware

WolfVision's electronic hardware is much different from other manufacturers. As low production costs are not a major requirement, WolfVision can use high end components for its electronic boards which clearly provide much better quality, stability and reliability. Plus it also allows for the inclusion of high end features and picture quality improvements which require a lot of computing power and system resources.

4. High End Software (Firmware)

A major factor of WolfVision's excellent picture quality is the highly sophisticated software (firmware) which uses the great potential that the high end hardware can provide.

A team of electronic engineers constantly works on new electronic features and further improvements of the picture quality. Customers can upload these improvements via easy to install Firmware Updates.

5. High End Light System

The Light System is of utmost importance for the overall picture quality. The light has to be even on the entire working surface, without a hot spot and without reflections. The color temperature has to be perfect to allow true color reproduction, and last but not least, the light must be user-friendly. No adjustments from the customer should be necessary. In order to achieve all this, WolfVision Visualizers are equipped with much more than just lamps. They feature a sophisticated light system or even a built-in light projector.
